Fair Usage Disclaimer
The sketchnotes I create are not complete/verbatim summaries and may not always be self-explanatory in terms of design. They are simply personal notes meant for my own learning first, and then sharing it along with others.
While sketchnotes encapsulate key ideas and concepts from articles, blogs and non-fiction books (not always with permission from authors), they are, in itself, new and original work created in a unique style, format and visual signature. Through the sketchnotes, I attempt to co-create knowledge by adding visual synthesis and metaphors that provide a new meaning and interpretation to the ideas. In creating sketchnotes, I always make sure that I include credits to the original authors/publications in sketchnotes. I create sketchnotes so that we can simplify, summarize and most importantly, illuminate insights (and their creators) through visual synthesis.
My attempt with sketchnotes is to give people an easier way to discover new knowledge and I hope that if great ideas spread far and wide through visual medium, it will eventually benefit the authors/publications in form of more awareness, visibility, readers and attention to the author’s work.
